Save Money on Thrift Finds: Easy Zipper Repair with This Amazon Kit

Thrifting Hack: Bring Old Clothes Back to Life with a Zipper Repair Kit

A few years ago, my teen kids got really into thrifting—buying tons of clothes from secondhand shops. At one point, our house was overflowing with all sorts of random items, including some pretty weird printed shirts.

But among the piles, there were actually some really nice pieces too. The only problem was that a few jackets were missing their zippers. Such a shame, because otherwise they were perfectly fine!

Getting them professionally repaired would cost quite a bit, so I decided to try something different—I ordered this zipper repair kit on Amazon.

Trying It Out

At first, I had no idea how to use it, so I watched a few YouTube tutorials. The basic process is pretty straightforward:

Check the size by testing the replacement slider on the opposite side of the zipper to make sure it fits.

Remove the stopper at the top of the broken side.

Attach the new zipper slider.

Replace the stopper at the top.

Once I got the hang of it, it was much easier than I expected. So far, I’ve successfully restored four or five jackets that we thought were unwearable.

Fixing clothes like this not only saves money, but it also feels rewarding to bring something back to life instead of throwing it away. If you’ve got thrift finds or old favorites with broken zippers, this kit is definitely worth a try!
