Watching Coachella While Thinking About the State of the World

It’s already been four months since we entered 2026, and the world seems to be moving in a more and more uneasy direction.

From what I personally feel, gas prices have become the “new normal” at around $5 per gallon, and sometimes even creeping into the $6 range.

There are constant headlines like “attacks on Iran have been halted,” but then at the same time, “the Strait of Hormuz is closed… or maybe open?”—it’s hard to tell what’s really going on.

When I keep up with this kind of news, I start to feel like worrying about my retirement savings—something I was thinking about just at the end of last year—almost doesn’t matter anymore.
Honestly, I don’t even know what the world will look like a year from now.

The government is deep in debt, and apparently household credit card balances have hit record highs.
At some point, taking all these anxiety-inducing articles—possibly generated or amplified by AI (under someone’s direction)—too seriously just starts to feel pointless.

That said, I still don’t want to rely on credit cards or overspend.

So I continue my daily routine: paying rent, going to work, grocery shopping, cooking, doing chores—just living life one small task at a time.
Along with my cat and my kids (who are older now and don’t need as much attention).

In the end, I’ve come to feel like, as long as I’m managing to live a normal day, that’s good enough.

The other day, I watched the Coachella livestream and saw performances by Creepy Nuts and Fujii Kaze. It was inspiring.

Actually going in person sounds intense—tickets around $700, plus hotel costs ranging from $1,000 to $5,000 for three days, not to mention traffic, parking chaos, and the desert heat.
So honestly, I’m glad I could watch it from home.

Fujii Kaze’s audio during the stream was a bit unstable, which made me go “huh?”, but Creepy Nuts really got the crowd going.

I watched the second weekend yesterday, and they seemed even more powerful.

Fujii Kaze is performing again later today—hopefully the sound will be better this time.
